Make a conversation with your partners. For two people it should last about a minute, for three people about 90 seconds in total. I may ask you some questions when you have finished. Try to speak quickly and please try to make it an *interesting* conversation with some new information for me.

There are many videos about La Sagrada Familia on Youtube. Most are quite long. This one is quite short and is quite interesting:

1: (male) Ok, ...

2: (male) We...

(Yes, that's right)

3: (male) Well....

4: (female) I...

Finish the script for these first 4 sentences. Then come back to the main session. I'm going to try to use the Chat function to check your script, but I'm not sure if this will work well.

I don't know whether this is going to be very difficult for you, or very easy. It's not a test, so just please try today, and if it's difficult just come back and tell me.  Be careful of the time!

Finish. (Next week is another conversation for 10 points; choose 1 topic from p. 92, Before You Listen. If you want to make groups like last time, please email me: dwhorsley@yahoo.co.jp)

Wednesday, November 18th, Sogo Eigo 4, 9:00-10:30 and 10:40-12:10 (Class #6)

Session 2: Look at the picture on p. 146. Unfortunately, I can find only one video on Youtube about this, and there is no commentary, only music. Anyway, it is only a few minutes long and I think it is worthwhile for you to watch it just for interest and general knowledge:

Read p. 149, Grammar for Speaking; Do D (it's very easy); Do p. 152, A.

Session 3: Watch this video with the subtitles on if you want to about Sarah Parcak, who is on p. 152 of your book:

Answer this question individually: Would you like to be an archaeologist? Why or why not? You answer this question by yourself, so you don't have to come back to the main session as a group. Just come back by yourself when you are ready.

Finish.

Today: Continue in Unit 5. Not all the answers to the questions can be taken directly from the readings. Sometimes you will have to think of an answer by yourselves, in your own words. Please be careful of the time, so that we do not have a rush at the end.

Session 1: Read p. 109, Rhetorical Focus; Read p. 110, The Best Sandwich of My Life; Do Ex. 5, A. (For #3, answer like this: He probably said, "......"); Do p. 111, B #2.

Today: Feedback for your Process Paragraph; Start Unit 5, Narrative Paragraphs

Some of the questions from the textbook today require that you use your imagination. Today, especially, you must talk in your group to get some answers. It's more important that you get an answer rather than you get the right answer.

Session 1: Look at pp. 103/104; Read p. 105, A House for Mr. Biswas; Do Ex. 3. (Be careful of #3; you must check the meaning of 'verandah' to get it right.)

Session 3: Do p. 109, Ex. 3 ('Descriptive words' means adjectives.)
